On 23 February 2013, the Association of Allan Gray Fellows welcomed 53 new Allan Gray Fellows into its fold after their successful graduation from the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation’s Fellowship. The new Allan Gray Fellows were inducted by the Association’s Executive Committee at a ceremony hosted at The Cape Grace in Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront.
The theme for the evening was the notion of the new members steering the Association in the direction they, themselves, wanted it to go. The Association’s President, Suzie Nkambule, encouraged the new Allan Gray Fellows to direct and navigate the Association towards its vision of an engaged association of high impact entrepreneurial leaders at the forefront of driving long-term economic and societal wealth in Southern Africa. The Vice-President of the New Graduates Portfolio, Zayne Imam, echoed this call by asking the new Allan Gray Fellows to acknowledge the hard work required by the collective community and encouraging them to avail themselves to leadership positions within the Association.
The evening celebrated the achievements of the graduating class, but the air was predominantly filled with excited discussion around the future endeavours of the Fellows. With one of their first steps into the “real world” being their induction into an association geared towards driving their success, it’s safe to say they are off to a great start
