The Circle of Excellence is an Allan Gray Orbis Foundation initiative that promotes the development of educational standards and provision of quality schooling in South Africa. The Circle of Excellence initiative was launched in 2008 to identify South Africa's top secondary schools in terms of their excellence in education and their consistent delivery of successful candidates to the Allan Gray Fellowship programme. It is a partnership seeking to support and encourage institutions of educational excellence in South Africa which are critical to our collective futures.
Circle of Excellence schools receive recognition, support at various levels and encouragement from the Foundation to ensure their continued provision of quality schooling in South Africa and their commitment to developing high education standards.
Become a Circle of Excellence School
A question often asked by principles and teachers is how their schools can become part of the Circle of Excellence initiative. Your school can become a member of the Circle of Excellence by providing quality schooling in a high school that has shown to be raising and developing educational standards by presenting high numbers of successful applicants to the Allan Gray Fellowship. The more successful applicants who become Allan Gray Fellows from your school, the higher your chances of becoming a member of the Circle of Excellence.
